The Dryer Door Switch Assembly senses if the door of your dryer is properly closed. If the door handle is broken or your dryer does not start as expected, then replacing the door switch may alleviate these issues. Note that this part also replaces older 2-terminal switches. To access the part, remove the screws from the lint screen if necessary and use a putty knife to release the tabs holding the top panel of the dryer on. The door switch is located in the upper corner of the dryer next to the switch actuator. The new switch may have an extra wire that isn't used. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the appliance and novice repair experience. You must unplug the appliance or shut off the house circuit breaker before installing this part. Helpful Tip: A multimeter can be used to test the door switch for continuity before you begin this repair.
