The Refrigerator Temperature Sensor gauges the temperature inside the freezer or refrigerator and relays the information to the electronic control board, triggering the compressor. If your appliance is too cold or not cold enough, the temperature sensor may be shorted out and replacing the sensor may alleviate these issues. Note that your appliance has two temperature sensors (also called thermistors) â one in the fresh food compartment and one in the freezer. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the appliance and novice repair experience. You must unplug the appliance or shut off the house circuit breaker before installing this part.
